This building was one of the oldest surviving structures in the community, a rare example of a cobbler’s workshop back in the 19th century. On August 12, 1982, the building was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

The house has maintained its original layout and features over the years after it was built about 1735. Thomas Hyatt House was considered one of the city’s oldest and most well-preserved houses.
