Darien is a coastal town which is a part of Fairfield County and was first incorporated in 1820. It is approximately 37 miles from New York City and as of 2021, has a total population of just under 22,000 residents. Darien has a total land area of approximately 13 square miles and is classed as the smallest town on the ‘Gold Coast’ of Connecticut. It is bordered by Stamford, New Canaan, Norwalk and Long Island.
The name Darien, was not decided until approximately 1913, with it being known as Middlesex Parish, prior to this change.
Darien is home to many beautiful parks and beaches, such as Pear Tree Point Beach, Weed Beach, Cherry Lawn Park and more! Pear Tree Point Beach offers beaches, a boat ramp, picnic
area, and fully operational concession stand, which make it the perfect spot to spend a summer day.
It is also home to many annual events for the whole community, some being the Darien Dash (Darien Youth Commission) scavenger hunt, held in March, or the Traditional town tree lighting ceremony hosted by the Darien Sport Shop. Almost every month will have a special event for the community.
